TLTA Leadership Attends ALTA ONE in Colorado Springs

TLTA leadership and members participated in ALTA ONE in Colorado Springs from Oct. 10-13, celebrating Jack Rattikin III's year as ALTA President and joining over 1,000 title professionals from across the nation to engage in discussions on key industry topics like wire fraud prevention, the economy, and employee retention, under the theme "Mission: Protect."

The event included meetings with other state land title associations, a keynote from NFL studio personality and four-time Super Bowl champion quarterback Terry Bradshaw on persevering through challenges and leveraging the power of strategic thinking, and numerous updates on federal issues impacting the industry.

TLTA's School Executive Committee Reviews Revamped Land Title School Curriculum: 2024 Program Registration Now Open

Following registration opening for our 2024 Land Title School, the Executive Committee of the Land Title School of Texas met on October 23, 2023, to review the initial draft of the revamped curriculum for TLTA's upcoming March 2024 event.

With a continued commitment to excellence, they have infused the entire 2 1/2-day program with a fresh perspective, ensuring alignment with the most recent legal developments, regulatory updates, and industry trends. To enhance the learning experience, the committee has introduced hands-on workshops and engaging breakout sessions, providing students with an opportunity to actively participate in small group discussions and acquire valuable hands-on learning experiences.
 
The 2024 Land Title School will take place at the Kalahri Convention Center, March 4-6, 2024.

In Memoriam: James Anderson

JANUARY 2, 1943 — OCTOBER 9, 2023
James L. Anderson, Jr., 80, passed away on October 9, 2023. He was born in Birmingham, Alabama on January 2, 1943 to James L. Anderson, Sr. And Emily Almon Anderson. He moved to Austin, Texas when he was two years old. His sister Martha was born after the family moved to Austin.


 
He graduated from Southwest Texas State College in 1967. He then went to St. Mary’s University and received his doctor of jurisprudence in 1969. He began practicing law in San Antonio following law school. He moved to Rockport, Texas in 1973. It was in Rockport that he found his home, his life long passion for airboats (who remembers Panther ball?) duck hunting and fishing and his community of family and friends.

He practiced law and became a partner in Rockport Abstract & Title Company. He ran for County Attorney of Aransas County in 1976 and held that position until he retired from it in 2008. He continued practicing law in Rockport until his retirement in 2020.
