The Leap to Leader
Harvard Business Review
To succeed as a senior executive, you need more than just special skills and competencies. You need a new mindset. The process involves identifying and communicating your core values and learning how to approach tough decisions. It requires setting the bar for your team’s performance and learning to compartmentalize so that you can find the right pace for yourself. And it requires expanding your self-awareness and paying attention to the stories you tell yourself about your experiences—your successes and failures, your bad times and good ones—when you contemplate the arc of your career and life.

TLTA Honors Bert V. Massey, II, as TLTAPAC Chair Emeritus, Recognizing Decades of Leadership and Advocacy
TLTA is proud to announce the well-deserved recognition of Bert V. Massey, II, as he assumes the esteemed position of Chair Emeritus for the TLTAPAC Board. With an unparalleled legacy of leadership, Bert's dedication to the TLTAPAC, and the title industry as a whole, has been instrumental in shaping our association's progress and growth for over four decades. During his service as TLTA President from 1981-82, Bert's visionary leadership led to the establishment of the TLTAPAC, recognizing the crucial role of political engagement in safeguarding and advancing our industry's interests. Since its inception, he has served as Chair of the PAC Board, tirelessly championing its causes and elevating the industry's voice on the political stage.

Alongside his influential work in founding the TLTAPAC, Bert has demonstrated an unwavering dedication to both his community and our industry. Throughout his career, he has served on numerous TLTA committees, including the Legislative, Nominating, and Federal Issues committees. His industry contributions were recognized with the prestigious Title Person of the Year award in 1984 and the President's Award in 2009, both testaments to his outstanding service. Bert is also an Honorary Member of TLTA, this distinguished recognition, bestowed sparingly, celebrates his contributions to both TLTA and the title industry over several decades. In addition to his industry specific accolades and service, Bert served his community for an impressive 26 years as the mayor of Brownwood from 1984-2010, was a member of the Brownwood City Council from 1978-84, and served on the Board of Directors of the Texas Municipal League from 1991-1996. His remarkable tenure in his role as mayor and the variety of other service roles he played in his community reflects his commitment to making a positive difference in the lives of those he served.
As we celebrate Bert's new role as Chair Emeritus, we look forward to his continued involvement in the TLTAPAC. His wisdom, experience, and steadfast commitment to the PAC will be an invaluable asset as we navigate the challenges and opportunities that lie ahead.

Stand Out From the Competition, Invest in Your Career with Certification
In today's competitive market, standing out and distinguishing yourself is essential for success. Both the American Land Title Association (ALTA) National Title Professional (NTP) designation and TLTA's Professional Certification Program offer exceptional opportunities to showcase your industry proficiency and commitment to professional development.
A measure of personal achievement, ALTA’s professional acknowledgement affirms these experts are powerhouses of knowledge, experience and dedication essential to the title industry. However, to qualify for this prestigious designation, you need to meet certain requirements, including obtaining the professional certification designation from your local state land title association. For instance, Texans aiming for the NTP designation would need to first earn one of TLTA's three professional certification designations, such as CTIP, CAEP, or CESP.
If you're ready to set yourself apart from the competition and seize the best opportunities in the title industry, TLTA's Certification Program is a great place to start. It provides a comprehensive platform to demonstrate your expertise within your company and with your clients and prospective clients - plus it fulfills one of the necessary prerequisites to obtaining ALTA's NTP designation. Stand out from the crowd and start earning your certification designations this year!
