Title Professionals Gather in Austin for TLTA's 2023 Day at the Capitol
Nearly 200 title industry professionals were in Austin earlier this month for TLTA's Day at the Texas Capitol. We went door to door, visiting with legislators and staff to educate them about our industry's good work protecting Texans property rights and our affirmative legislative agenda this session.
It was a successful goodwill mission and our deepest respect and gratitude for all who joined us at Day at Capitol to help us strengthen our connections with the lawmakers who oversee our regulated industry!

Karnes County Courthouse Honored with TLTA-Sponsored Texas Courthouse Stewardship Award
Since the 1970s, the Texas Historical Commission (THC) has taken an active role in the preservation of county courthouses, and TLTA is honored to have provided funding for the Texas Courthouse Stewardship Award and Texas Courthouse Stewardship Initiative, a training and technical program designed to promote the ongoing, regular maintenance of Texas' historic county courthouses, since 2005.
The Texas Courthouse Stewardship Award recognizes counties that have established good stewardship practices to maintain their courthouses in historically accurate condition. At this year's Real Places Conference, Leslie Midgely, TLTA Executive Vice President and CEO, had the pleasure to announce Karnes County as this year's recipent of Award for Outstanding Stewardship of a historic courthouse.

The 1894 Karnes County Courthouse in Karnes City was rededicated in April 2018, following two emergency projects, preparation of construction documents, and a full restoration of its Romanesque style courthouse. Since the rededication, Karnes County has carefully maintained its courthouse under the able guidance of its facility manager, Rene Montalvo. In addition to a commitment to outstanding building maintenance, Rene consults courthouse program staff for technical guidance and review of proposed work, and he regularly attends stewardship training offered through the Courthouse Preservation Program, including regional workshops and the Real Places conference.

Old Republic Announces Promotion of Carolyn Monroe to President and Chief Executive Officer
Old Republic Title is pleased to announce that Carolyn Monroe has been promoted to President and Chief Executive Officer of Old Republic National Title Holding Company (ORNTHC), and assumed the CEO role following Mark Bilbrey’s retirement on January 31, 2023.
Carolyn’s successful career in the title insurance industry spans 40 years, the last 14 of which have been with Old Republic Title.

CATIC Welcomes Kyle K. Rank, Esq. as Senior Vice President - National Accounts Manager
CATIC is pleased to announce that Kyle K. Rank, Esq., has joined the company as Senior Vice President – National Accounts Manager. In this position, Attorney Rank will oversee the national and multi-state division within The CATIC Family of Companies.
Kyle is a 30-plus year veteran of the title insurance industry, having held executive leadership positions for several regional title insurance underwriters and multi-state title agencies. He previously served as Executive Vice President, Business Development and Executive Vice President, Agency for two large regional title insurance underwriters, overseeing national agency expansion efforts and company revenue growth.
