TLTA Board of Directors Gather at Camp Lucy in Dripping Springs for Orientation and Planning Meeting
TLTA's board of directors met for an orientation and planning meeting at Camp Lucy in Dripping Springs Sept. 20-21. The orientation included a review of board responsibilities, TLTA's tools and relationships, and the progress of ongoing projects. The board also engaged in strategic discussion with TLTA committee chairs and heard reports on state and federal advocacy efforts. These discussions will help TLTA's leadership develop and implement initiatives to help TLTA members succeed in a changing real estate marketplace.

With the 88th Session of the Texas Legislature commencing on Jan 10, 2023, we are hard at work planning our biennial Day at the Capitol program for Feb. 7-8, 2022, in Austin. During this two-day event, Texas title insurance professionals will have the opportunity to talk with legislators and legislative staff about issues being considered by the Texas Legislature that could impact our industry.

In Memoriam: Wayne Scott
NOVEMBER 12, 1938 – SEPTEMBER 14, 2022
Leonard Wayne Scott, better known as "Wayne", age 83, passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, September 14, 2022, in Fair Oaks Ranch, TX
Wayne joined the St. Mary’s School of Law in 1971 and last year, celebrated 50 years of dedicated service. At St. Mary’s, he created the Alternative Dispute Resolution Institute and taught several summers at the St. Mary’s Institute on World Legal Problems in Innsbruck, Austria, which hosted U.S. Supreme Court justices Ruth Bader Ginsburg, William Rehnquist and Antonin Scalia. During his tenure at St. Mary’s Law, Scott was awarded the Outstanding Teaching Award, the Distinguished Professor Award and the Gene Cavin Award.
Wayne worked closely with TLTA from the inception of the Texas Land Title Institute, which is jointly sponsored by St. Mary’s School of Law, and served as a speaker at that program for over 25 years. TLTA is deeply grateful for his efforts in support of the Land Title Institute and we’ll miss his involvement and friendship.
A visitation and Episcopal Mass service were held in celebration and honor of Wayne's life over the weekend of September 24 - 25 in San Antonio. Gifts in honor of Professor L.
