Reminder: Submit GARC to TTIGA by May 1
This is a reminder that title agents must render the first quarterly Guaranty Assessment Recoupment Charge (GARC) to the Texas Title Insurance Guaranty Association (TTIGA) by May 1, 2014. For the first remittance, the fee should include $1.80 from each owner and loan policy issued between Jan. 1 and
March 31, 2014. The charge should be remitted to TTIGA using the Guaranty Assessment Recoupment Charge Remittance Form. You can download an interactive .pdf version of that form

Overview of the Homeowner Flood Insurance Affordability Act
The Federal Emergency Management Agency recently released a fact sheet about the Homeowner Flood Insurance Affordability Act of 2014. This law repeals and modifies certain provisions of the Biggert-Waters Flood Insurance Reform Act and makes additional program changes to other aspects of the National Flood Insurance Program.

National Housing Conference Denounces Anti-GSE Reform Attack Ads

The National Housing Conference and more than a dozen other organizations have joined together to denounce “attack ads” targeting housing finance reforms, like the one authored by Chairman Tim Johnson, D-S.D., and Sen. Mike Crapo, R-Idaho, of the Senate Committee on Banking, Housing, and Urban Affairs. “Recent attack ads from the 60 Plus Association use scare tactics to get in the way of the housing finance reform that we need to create housing opportunities for Americans,” the National Housing Conference said in a release.
