State Rep. Jeff Leach Receives
Outstanding Legislator Award
From Statewide Trade
Association
June 27, 2022
AUSTIN – The Texas Land Title Association (TLTA), one of the state’s
oldest trade associations, presented state Rep. Jeff Leach (R-Plano) with
an Outstanding Legislator Award during TLTA’s Annual Conference and
Business Meeting in Fort Worth.
“Rep. Leach led the House’s work on Senate Bill 30, the racial covenants
removal legislation passed by the Texas Legislature last session,” said
Leslie Midgley, Executive Vice President and CEO of TLTA. “The existent
of racial covenants is a subject that has caused great concern for the title
industry for years. Rep. Leach worked with TLTA and other
stakeholders on a solution that would address and help remedy these
historical scars in our land records while maintaining the integrity of
those records. Chairman Leach and TLTA have been working together on
legislative issues for almost a decade starting in his first legislative session
in 2013. He was immediately identified by the capitol community as a
strong leader and time has only proved this observation to be true.”
Rep. Leach currently serves as Chairman for the House Judiciary and Civil
Jurisprudence Committee and is chair of the Criminal Justice Reform
Interim Study Committee.
Now serving his fifth term, Rep. Leach represents the citizens of House
District 67, consisting of portions of Plano, Allen, Richardson and Dallas in
Collin County. He was named as a "Friend of the Judiciary" by the State
Bar of Texas and was recognized as a "2019 Legislator of the Year" by the
Texas Civil Justice League.
