Texas Data Privacy And Security Act Effective July 1 - Title Companies, Agents and Plants Are Not Subject to the New Requirements

You may have read that the Texas Data Privacy and Security Act, which was passed last legislative session as HB 4, went into effect July 1. For some businesses operating in Texas, this act will impact how they handle consumer information. You can learn more here.
 
As you may have read in the TLTA 88th Session Legislative Report, title companies, agents and plants are excluded from the requirements of this new oversight. We're grateful for  the lawmakers who amended the bill to carve out our industry after recognizing the unique consumer privacy requirements our industry is already subject to.

CFPB and FHFA Release Updated Data from the National Survey of Mortgage Originations for Public Use

The Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (CFPB) and the Federal Housing Finance Agency (FHFA) published updated loan-level data for public use collected through the National Survey of Mortgage Originations (NSMO). The data also provide updated mortgage performance and credit information for a nationally representative sample of mortgage borrowers from 2013 to 2021.
