3rd Special Session of 88th Texas Legislature Begins Monday

Earlier this week Gov. Abbott sent a letter to the Speaker and Lt. Gov. announcing that the 3rd Called Session of the 88th Texas Legislature will commence 1 p.m. Monday, Oct. 9.
 
Earlier today the Governor issued the special session proclamation, which includes issues on the call for the special session (note: the call can be expanded by the Governor at any time).

U.S. Reps Introduce Bipartisan Bill Requiring Title Insurance on Loans Purchased by GSEs

U.S. Reps. Andrew Garbarino (R-N.Y.) and Vicente Gonzalez (D-Texas) introduced a bipartisan bill that requires title insurance issued by a state licensed and regulated title insurance company on all loans purchased by Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac.
 
The Protecting America’s Property Rights Act (HR. 5837) is a companion bill to S. 2687, introduced by Sen. John Kennedy (R-La.) and cosponsored by Sen. Katie Britt (R-Ala.).

Supreme Court Appears Skeptical of Upending CFPB Funding in Oral Arguments

The U.S. Supreme Court seemed reticent to issue a ruling that would dismantle the funding structure of the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (CFPB) during oral arguments on Tuesday morning.
