The Texas Department of Insurance is accepting applications for the Texas Title Insurance Guaranty Association (TTIGA) Board of Directors. TDI is filling a vacant public member position. The TTIGA board includes four public members.

ALTA Sends Letter to FHFA on Title Insurance Alternatives in GSEs Equitable Housing Finance Plans

ALTA sent a letter to Federal Housing Finance Authority (FHFA) Director Sandra Thompson last week outlining ALTA's concerns with title insurance alternatives currently under consideration as part of the government sponsored enterprises’ (GSEs’) Equitable Housing Finance Plans.

TLTA Editor's Note: ICYMI, FHFA recently announced intention to establish a Federal Advisory Committee on Affordable, Equitable and Sustainable Housing Committee. The GSEs (who are regulated by FHFA) have been increasingly focused on housing affordability, and closing costs continue to be at the center of that affordability discussion.

ICYMI: TDI Issues Call for 2021 Agent Statistical Data; Responses Due No Later Than Nov. 7, 2022

The Texas Department of Insurance issued its call for agent statistical data to each agency in Texas in accordance with Texas Insurance Code §2703.153, which requires each title insurance company and title insurance agent engaged in the business of title insurance in Texas to annually submit certain data to TDI. TDI uses this data to set title insurance premium rates.
 
Please note that this call is for data collected during calendar year 2021. You must respond to this data call using the provided instructions and forms no later than Nov. 7, 2022.
