Gov. Abbott appoints title industry veteran Darlene Fairchild to TREC Broker Lawyer Committee

Darlene Fairchild of Bryan-College Station, agency underwriter with University Title Company, has been appointed by the governor to Texas Real Estate Commission's (TREC) Broker Lawyer Committee. The Texas Real Estate Broker Lawyer Committee drafts and revises all contracts promulgated by TREC.
 
Darlene is a long-time TLTA member and active association volunteer who has served on TLTA's Regulatory Committee since 2009. We congratulate Darlene and look forward to working with her in this important new role.

Public Improvement Districts (PID) are becoming more common in developing areas in Texas. Last year's complaints about nondisclosure of PID assessments by a builder from some North Texas homeowners prompted the Texas Legislature to pass HB 1543 to beef up PID disclosure notices to buyers and penalties for sellers who fail to deliver the notice. The new requirements went into effect Sept. 1, 2021.

Members Appointed to New Texas Work Group on Blockchain Matters Created by Texas Legislature

TLTA | Nov. 17, 2021
The 87th Texas Legislature created the Work Group on Blockchain Matters via passage of HB 1576. The work group is charged with developing a master plan to promote expansion of the blockchain industry in Texas.
 
The master plan must be submitted to certain legislative committees of the Senate and House of Representatives no later than October 31, 2022.
