Last week, the House Financial Services Committee, led by Chairman Jeb Hensarling (R-TX), introduced the Financial CHOICE Act, H.R. 5893: comprehensive financial legislation designed to largely repeal and replace major parts of the Dodd-Frank Act. Proposed TRID Changes Being Reviewed By TLTA – Your Input Requested

As Dateline Austin reported on Aug. 4, the CFPB has proposed updates to TRID. Unfortunately, many challenges – such as the simultaneous issue problem – were not addressed in these proposed updates.
 
Comments on the proposed changes are due to the CFPB by Oct. 18. TLTA is in the process of determining whether or not to submit comments, and we need your input. Please review the proposed changes and contact Aaron Day or Leslie Midgley with your feedback.

Reminder: Agent Statistical Data Reports Due Sept. 30

This is a reminder that Agent Statistical Data reports are due to TDI by Friday, Sept. 30.
 
TDI sent its call for Agent Statistical Data on Aug. 10 to each agency in Texas in accordance with Texas Insurance Code §2703.153, which requires each title insurance company and title insurance agent engaged in the business of title insurance in Texas to annually submit certain data to TDI. You must respond to this data call using the provided instructions and forms no later than Sept. 30, 2016. Complete the data call using the interactive PDF forms available at www.tdi.texas.gov/bulletins/index.html.

T-S1 Form Due to TDI Title Examinations Department by Sept. 30, 2016

This is a reminder that the T-S1, also known as the Title Agent's Unencumbered Assets Certification, is due to TDI's Title Examinations Department by Sept. 30, 2016. All title agents – including direct operations – are required to turn in a new T-S1 form every year between 
Sept. 1 - 30.
