House Financial Services Committee Passes Bill to Overhaul Dodd-Frank Law
Wall Street Journal | Sept. 13, 2016
A House committee approved legislation Tuesday to revamp the federal government’s approach to regulating Wall Street banks, the first step in replacing the 2010 Dodd-Frank financial overhaul law.
The House Financial Services Committee voted 30-26, largely along party lines, for a bill written by Chairman Rep. Jeb Hensarling (R., Texas) to replace the Dodd Frank Act adopted in the wake of the financial crisis. Only one Republican, Rep. Bruce Poliquin of Maine, voted with the Democrats against it. The Hensarling bill now goes to the House floor for a vote by the full chamber.
TLTA will provide a more detailed look at the proposed bill and the committee's action in next week's Dateline, including how it would affect settlement agents.

WSAU.com | Sept. 9, 2016
The financial industry is pressing for "remote notarization." Before their virtual meeting, borrowers must answer random questions from their credit histories to prove who they are.
