Guaranty Fee Back Into Effect This Week: Read Important New Clarifications and Guidance From TTIGA and TDI

As previously reported, the policy guaranty fee will go back into effect this week at $3 per policy for all transactions closed on or after April 1, 2016.
There are several points of clarification and guidance that are very important for you to know in order to properly comply, so please read this article highlighting when to start charging the guaranty fee, where to disclose and what to name the fee and where and how to remit the fees you collect.

Update to TDI Licensing Forms

The Texas Department of Insurance has published new title licensing forms to its website. The header on the forms and mailing addresses referred to within the forms now reflect their new location on the seventh floor of the Hobby Building.
TDI has indicated that more changes are coming, as TDI continues to look for ways to streamline processes and utilize efficient forms. TLTA will notify Dateline Austin readers once that information is received.

Commissioner Mattax Appoints Three to Texas Title Insurance Guaranty Association Board of Directors

Insurance Commissioner David Mattax has appointed three members to serve on the board of directors of the Texas Title Insurance Guaranty Association. The new board members are:
- Patti Bonner of Dripping Springs, senior vice president and agency services manager for Stewart Title Guaranty Company, currently serving as president of the Texas Land Title Association
- John Martin of El Paso, president of Lone Star Title Company of El Paso and a member of TLTA's board of directors
- Christopher Williston of Horseshoe Bay, president and chief operating officer of the Independent Bankers Association of Texas
The commissioner also reappointed Thomas Milton of Dallas to the board of directors.
