Guaranty Fee Reinstated at $3 Per Policy, Effective April 1
Texas Title Insurance Guaranty Association | Feb. 15, 2016
At its meeting on Jan. 27, the Board of Directors of the Texas Title Insurance Guaranty Association voted to increase the policy guaranty fee from zero to $3 effective April 1, 2016. The guaranty fee will be $3 for each owner's title policy and $3 for each loan title policy sold, and title agents will be required to remit and report this quarterly to the TTIGA. Watch your mail for an official notice from TTIGA, and see below for remittance forms and FAQs.
Please note: if the "closing date" and funding date of a sale differ, according to TDI, go by the funding date. As
clarified by Robert York of TDI, "The funding date is the best date to use. Any files with a closing date on or after April 1 will have a funding date after April 1. If a title agency has a closing date (signing date) in very late March, and they know the transaction will not fund until April, they should go ahead and collect the fee."
