The California Consumer Privacy Act is now in effect, and seventeen states considered comprehensive consumer privacy legislation in 2019, including Texas, which created the Privacy Protection Advisory Council to study the issue and recommend legislation for 2021. We expect to see additional privacy legislation proposed at the state and federal levels in 2020.
